Jan Daems nieuw hoofd Circus Arts Codarts

Jan Daems wordt met ingang van 1 januari 2015 hoofd van de bacheloropleiding Circus Arts van Codarts Rotterdam. Hij volgt Marc Jonkers op, die sinds 2010 hoofd van de opleiding is.
Jan Daems (België, 1964) heeft ruime ervaring op het gebied van (circus)onderwijs, regie en coaching. Na zijn studies aan het Hoger Rijksinstituut voor Cultuurspreiding (HRITCS), Mime Studio Antwerpen en Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles, werkte hij als regisseur voor o.a. Circuswerkplaats Boost, Circuscentrum (België) en Cirkanto. Daarnaast is hij coördinator en instructeur geweest van Cirque du Monde, een sociaal project van Cirque du Soleil, in Mexico. Jan Daems: “Ik kijk ernaar uit om samen met Anna Beentjes (zakelijk hoofd), de docenten en de studenten en alle andere medewerkers verder te bouwen aan deze unieke circusopleiding. Naast een sterke circustechnische bagage wil ik dat onze studenten tijdens de opleiding creatief aan de slag gaan met de andere troeven binnen Codarts: muziek en dans.”
Codarts heeft er vertrouwen in dat zij met Jan Daems een goed hoofd met enorm veel circuskennis heeft gevonden, en wenst hem veel succes in zijn nieuwe functie.
Codarts is een in Rotterdam gevestigde internationale hogeschool die hoogwaardig kunstvakonderwijs aanbiedt op het gebied van muziek, dans en circus. De hogeschool telt ongeveer 1.000 studenten, met 50 nationaliteiten, en circa 340 medewerkers.
Tot eind 2014 blijft Jan Daems ter vervanging van Peter Smets actief als vormingswerker van het Circuscentrum.
