Meester-leerlingbeurzen, ook voor circus

Schoenmakers, clowns, pruikenmakers, smeden, weefsters, vertellers, boekbinders, tapdansers, instrumentenbouwers, … allemaal baanbrekende vakmensen. Hun beroep kent een lange en rijke geschiedenis. Vandaag staat hun kunde echter onder druk van de haastige samenleving.
Om dit vakmanschap van toekomst te verzekeren, zette minister van Cultuur Sven Gatz een beurzensysteem op. Niet enkel voor oude ambachten, maar evengoed voor craftbrewing en vernieuwende juweelkunst, podiumkunsten als clown-acts of kruisbestuivingen tussen vechtkunsten en hedendaagse dans. Ook vakmanschap dat migranten naar Vlaanderen meebrengen, zoals Afghaans borduren of vocale tradities uit het Midden-Oosten, maakt deel uit van het divers meesterschap dat vandaag nood heeft aan mogelijkheden om kennis en kunde door te geven.
Op 6 december 2018 maakte Minister Gatz bekend dat 27 meesters alvast aan de slag kunnen met één of meer leerlingen. Onder hen Marquis Pauwels en Bram De Laere. Zij ontvangen 48.000 euro voor ‘Sans blague: een toekomst voor de historische clownsentrees en -reprises’.
