Erfgoed, alleen van vroeger? Niks van. Ook nu zetten duizenden mensen in Vlaanderen en Brussel tradities en technieken verder, al dan niet bewust. We schrijven namelijk elke dag geschiedenis. Zeker circusartiesten!
Circusartiesten staan op het snijpunt tussen verleden en toekomst, ambacht en kunst, techniek en artisticiteit. Eeuwenoude technieken worden elke dag verder verfijnd en geoptimaliseerd, nieuwe technieken worden geregeld (her)uitgevonden (kijk maar naar de roue cyr). Er wordt volop geëxperimenteerd met nieuwe manieren en invalshoeken om met oude gebruiken om te gaan. Zelfs dieren – lang aanzien als hét symbool van het traditionele circus – worden in hedendaagse producties opgevoerd, maar dan als mede-artiest in plaats van loutere attractie (zie bijvoorbeeld Baro d’Evel).
Erfgoed is met andere woorden iets van elke dag. Iets van nu. Met de campagne #ikschrijfgeschiedenis willen diverse erfgoedorganisaties dat voor eens en altijd duidelijk maken. Welke tradities en technieken zetten we in Vlaanderen en Brussel enthousiast verder in 2016? Iedereen, jong of oud, toeschouwer, doener of sympathisant kan een foto of filmpje delen via de hashtag #ikschrijfgeschiedenis of op www.ikschrijfgeschiedenis.be. Circus mag daar zeker niet op ontbreken.
