Het is gelukt! Na maanden zwoegen, zweten en repeteren is de nieuwe voorstelling af. De techniek zit strak, muziek en licht zijn afgemixt en de kostuums zitten als gegoten. Publiek en programmatoren staan in grote drommen te wachten en het internationale succes lonkt. Nog snel een kort, leuk tekstje schrijven voor de programmaboekjes en de website en we zijn vertrokken…
Hier gaan we.
“In deze betoverende circusvoorstelling ontmoeten sprookjesachtige wezentjes elkaar. Het publiek wordt ondergedompeld in een poëtische mix van theater, dans en circus, een spetterend totaalspektakel voor het ganse gezin met plaats voor een lach en een traan.”
Eerlijk? Ik onthaar nog liever mijn bilspleet met een roestig pincet dan nog één zo’n wervende circustekst te lezen. Toegegeven, circusartiesten zijn geen schrijvers. Toegegeven, het is niet makkelijk. Een beroep doen op een bevriende journalist of dichter kan, maar wie kent een voorstelling beter dan de circusartiest die hem gemaakt heeft? Dus handen uit de mouwen, scherp aan die ganzenveer en misschien kunnen een paar basisregels helpen.
Is een goeie tekst van levensbelang? Neen. Maar als de voorstelling met liefde en toewijding gemaakt is, dan de bijhorende tekst ook. Het is een afspiegeling van de voorstelling. Is die rauw en echt, dan is de tekst navenant. Is die absurd humoristisch, dan uw pen ook. Maak ‘m prikkelend en een tikje geheimzinnig, en geef net niet alles weg. Als we er één extra toeschouwer mee naar het circus kunnen lokken is het opzet geslaagd.
